  • The Life of Pi

A really well done book. I was put off at first by what seemed to be a strange story but I have to say I loved it. It is set in India around the mid-1970's and centers around Pi, the son of a zookeeper. Through unfortunate circumstance he ends up the lone survivor of a shipwreck, but is stuck on a lifeboat with (now I know this sounds weird) an orangutan, a zebra, a hyena and a Bengal tiger. What transpires is an amazing story of survival.

If you think this isn't the book for you, read it anyway. I felt the same way and I am glad I did.

I almost bought this book yesterday--maybe I'll go back and get it! It seemed about as far-fetched as Ishmael, which I loved, so I probably would like it.

I loved this book!!! I picked it up on a whim at the airport and I couldn't put it down. But in the end I found it to have been a deceptively quick read-- the narration is so good that you can take it as a simple story, but if you want to think about philosophical/religious stuff, there's a lot there.
