What are you reading now?

Before that, I read "Defending Jacob" by William Landary which was terrific. I wish the book club read that.

My book club just read that, and we managed not to discuss it at all. Too much else going on last month. I didn't love it, but mostly because I got bored by all the courtroom stuff. My husband (avid Law and Order watcher) liked it more.

The other thing I recently finished and liked was The Light Between Oceans.

I am currently reading Snow Falling on Cedars. My book club does a book swap at Christmas time, white elephant exchange style, and that's the one I ended up with. It's good so far, but more courtroom! Sigh. I also started Robert Gates' memoir, Duty, but there's no way I'm going to finish it in the foreseeable future.

Oh, yes. The Light Between Oceans was excellent and made for a good book club discussion. Too bad your group didn't discuss Defending Jacob. I was disappointed that my book club passed it over.

MrsK - I also really enjoyed Defending Jacob. I listened to it in the fall of 2013 when I was driving back and forth home for weddings and wedding-related events. It was a great audiobook. I was captivated. The ending was fascinating.

Angie - 11/22/63 was probably the best audiobook I read (listened to?) in all of 2013. I was hooked immediately from the beginning! SO GOOD!

I started reading "What Alice Forgot" - not sure if I like it. I don't think I do.

My book club read it and everyone enjoyed it. It's deeper than it appears to be initially.

I just finished We Were Liars. I liked it. I think, going in, I expected it to be deeper, but it was a fun read. I'm about to start The Stand. I haven't ever read a Stephen King book before, and DH said that was a good place to start.

The Stand is an amazing novel.

I don't know what it was but I could not get into The Stand. I had much better luck with 11-22-63, which was outstanding (and my first King read!)

I read the Stand ages ago, and I don't remember a whole lot about it. I did read 11-22-63 recently, and it is amazing. Apparently there are a TON of in-references to other King books in it, all of which sailed right past me, but it was still really good.

I read The Stand one summer in high school. Loved it. Wonder if it stands the test of time. It's loooooong and it has a cult following which can lead to versions that would have been better edited. King is pretty solid though. He spins a good tale. I liked Firestarter and Pet Cemetery the most of his early stuff and had the misfortune of reading The Shining on a family road trip with many hotels. Creepy.

He has a million. I read that nice he tries to write six pages a day regardless of what's happening - just as a habit. Guess that adds up.

His early work as Richard Bachmann is wonderful as well.
I own the uncut version of The Stand, and read it in college. Wow!

Favorites: The Long Walk, It, Desperation, The Eyes of the Dragon (fantasy novel, and one of the earliest mentions of The Dark Man)

I almost picked up 'Revival' in the bookstore yesterday - anyone read it? Reviews seem good, synopsis seems nice and creepy!
