I picked this up at the library this weekend and absolutely loved it. It is a very quick read, I finished it in just a few days. I didn't realize it at the time, but apparently it was also a "Today" show book club selection awhile back.
It's the story of a man who is faced with the sudden and tragic death of his wife, to which the only witness is their beloved dog. The story goes back and forth between the present time in which he decides the only way to discover the circumstances surrounding his wife's death is to teach the dog to speak, and the past in which he reflects on his love and romance with his wife. It was fascinating to read how he solves the mysteries surrounding his wife's last days. It's a wonderful story about love and loss and grief and hope. I would highly recommend it.
