This book is guaranteed to cause insomnia! Seriously, this book is the legendary FBI profiler John Douglas's autobiography. The story is enormously interesting because he starts out almost by accident on a career path in the FBI. In fact, he wasn't a stellar student and even had a few brushes with the law in the wild days of his youth.
But as he matures, he galvanizes the field of law enforcement to a more sophisticated approach to criminal apprehension. These cases are unbelieveable, horrific, and wildly interesting.
There is also an interesting current running through the book about the effect of his drive and passion for his work and the consequences to his wife and children. Since this is not MY life, I'm thinking, but his long hours are justified, he's saving lives!
