  • Scribbling the Cat- Alexandra Fuller

While I did enjoy this book, it wasn't as cohesive as Fuller's First novel, "Don't lets go down with the dogs tonight". There are some amazing passages in this book and yet it could have been so much more. The ending left a lot unresolved, but I understand that this was Ms. Fuller's point: Digging deeper into the questions of Africa provides only more questions and less resolution.

Long story short: I would recommend her first book over her second.

I just read it too. Kind of weird I thought- I wonder what her husband and kids thought about her journey.

      Just saw your response...

      Spoiler alert!

Yes, I can only imagine the conversation with her hubby: "O.K. not only did I take a month plus trip to a hostile place lacking any government or justice just to appease my need to answer questions about my Africa, but I spent a lot of unaccounted for time with a man who was in love with me, kissed a third man, and wasn't able to call home to the kids." Hmm. That
sounds like a hard sell to me.
