  • Midwives...

I'll have to pull out the book to post the author later...but this is another one of Oprah's picks...and it was really awesome. I found myself up until 2.30 am finishing it (YES, on a school night!) and nearly fell over when I read the last page.....

This was a great book. recently a movie was made of it on Lifetime channel. I think it was Sissy Spacek who played the midwife.

I agree- very good book, but also a little disturbing. It just highlights how very easily something can go wrong despite the fact that you made all of the "best" choices at the time, and can have a monumental effect on your life. I would definitely recommend this book-- unless your pregnant!

I liked the book.... But it does make me think that there is a reason why certified nurse midwives take at least 6 years of school to get there. This lady had no formal education at all!

This book was a great read, although some parts were difficult to digest. Once I started reading it, I couldn't get the story out of my thoughts. I liked the fact that the author didn't take the easy road and make it a clear case of right versus wrong and showed that even our best intentions can produce the biggest obstacles to overcome.
