  • Memoirs of a Geisha

I'm sure this book has been read and reviewed, but I can't find it. I was absolutely fascinated by this book. I incorrectly thought "geisha" was synonomous with "prostitute" and was surprised to learn otherwise. While it saddens me how the girls who were to become geishas often got their start, I was surprised at the lifestyle the successful geishas were able to maintain. I know this sounds sexist, but it amazed me that this book was written by a man! :! :!

I loved this book. It's been a while since I read it but still think of scenes from it.
I've heard that it was being made into a movie. I'm not sure that I could watch it.

A book that is sort of similar in place and theme is The Ginger Tree. I loved that one, too.

Loved it too! Thought the "guy" did a very good job at writing it as well. Will definately see the movie if and when it comes out. However, it probably won't be as good as the book. As always.

Oh, I loved this book! I couldn't put it down either. I read it a while back as well, and still think about certain parts. Seeing this post makes me want to read it again.

I finished it and then started reading it again on the same day
