    I think that I will NOT read HP 5 to DS because it is a bit dark (I finished it this weekend) and deals with emotions way over his head. I may try "The Princess Bride" (movie tie -in always good because at 5 he is still grappling with vocabulary/plot understanding) or "The Indian in the Cupboard" because I loved this.
    In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

    We recently read My Side of the Mountain. Both my kids loved it. Check it out too. HP 5 was a huge failure with my son (and he was 7). He listened to it as a book on tape last year. Good choice there.
