  • Atonement--Ian McEwan

This is a pretty good read overall, but it takes a few chapters to get going. If character depth, is your thing, you will looooooove this book. Many of McEwan's themes (betrayal, social climbing, fragmentation of the family, WWII soldier scenes) have been done before, but he does a good job of entertaining the reader.

I bought this on the sidewalk for a dollar. It's still in the back of my car. Are you saying I should read it?? (All kidding aside, I heard it was a great book. Definitely worth a dollar; but I haven't cracked it open for a month now.)

Honestly, it is a good book, but I have been reading fabulous books lately which allows me to be more critical. Just give yourself an hour to start it and REALLY get into it.
