Anybody read it? Hysterically funny, devastating, moving.....just a few words to describe what I thought. I wonder if this one is really a true memoir, or if it follows suit with the "million Little Pieces" scam? Truly, I don't care if it's all true or not...it was, quite simply, a very engaging, quick read.

I read it a couple years ago - it's being made into a movie now. It's a great book - I read his 2nd book, too. As far as I know, his is true (as awful as it was!).

    He's a very interesting guy.

Augusten Boroughs, right? Very funny guy. He's legit. Try "Magical Thinking" and "Sellevision". I loved the former - it's his collection of short stories. Think "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris.

Yeah, he writes fun books. There's one about his recovery from alcoholism that's pretty good, I think it's called "Dry"
Sometimes I feel he's into shock value though.

I did a review of Dry a few years ago- I was into my gay men angst writers (Sedaris and Burroughs were my top two)

and Dry is Really, Really Good.

This was a good book, I tore through it in a couple of days. I think I liked Dry better, though.

I am halfway through Running with Scissors and it's pretty good. However, I still think Dry was much better. I looooved that book. I'm on a big memoir kick a la David Sedaris, Augusten Burroughs, and Dave Eggers.

                  Re: Running With Scissors

Augusten's big brother wrote a book about growing up with Aspbergers (and not knowing he had any "syndrome" until he was an adult).
It's somewhat readable, but has some really good stories, especially about their insane parents.
We have it out from the library, and it's called Look Me in the Eye.
