    In her shoes.

    I know that Jennifer Weiner is the the newest chic-lit author come lately but I just can't get into her. (And I typically enjoy chic-lit). Her characters are too narrowly drawn and this book didn't have a satisfactory turning point and final resolution. I know that I'm in the minority, but I'm gonna pass on the next Weiner novel.

    I found the same for that particular book as well. I really liked Good in Bed but this one I just couldn't get into. I'm so picky these days, too. If I'm sacrificing my day to read, it had better grab me quickly or it'll get tossed aside. Sad but true. I'm going to have to wait until retirement to get to those books that people recommend with the caveat of "it starts out slow".

      Agreed. I kind of liked Good in Bed, but just finished "Goodnight Nobody" and it was not good. It was an easy read, but not at all clever.

        I liked "Good in Bed" and thought it was a passable, quick summer read. I skimmed "Goodnight Nobody" in about 30 minutes and from what I could tell, it was bad. I started reading it and didn't like it so flipped through to the last chapter.

          I didn't like the book either, it just didn't do anything for me. Also being a shoe snob, some of the shoe references felt false.

            Someone recommended this book to me, I devored it because (to me) it was a fluff read, and I probably won't pick up a Weiner novel again because I felt the same way you did. I'll join your minority.

                DH was gone for a few days so I had chick-flick fest 2006 and rented this movie. The movie is MUCH better than the book. This make sense because the book is written with the depth of a screen play. Seriously, don't let the bad book reviews turn you away from the film. It is a light, enjoyable movie perfect for call nights.

                  I agree--the movie was better than the book.
                  Check out the DVD extras. They interview some of the old folks--they're a hoot!
