  • Diana Gabaldon (sp?)

I didn't see a thread about this author, has anyone read her Outlander series? It's my absolute favorite. Almost everyone I've recommended it to loves it.

I absolutely love Gabaldon. I went after her "Outlander" series like a crack addict on the hunt for a fix. Her comedic timing is impeccable and she's a born storyteller.

Have you read the "Lord John" book, yet? I wasn't sure how I'd like it since he wasn't one of my favorite characters, but it's surprisingly interesting. From what I understand, she's going to make an entire Lord John series.

Have you checked out her website? There's some pretty interesting stuff, there. And the "Ladies of Lallybroch" are pretty funny, too.

I think that was me. And I had the same reaction to Jamie. The funny thing to me was that I dated a guy in high school that she could have modeled the character after. And his name was James, too.

Oh dear. . . you lucky girl.
I should have added that he reminded of Jamie, except for the whole personal responsibility and self discipline part. An ex is always an ex for a reason.

Diggitydot- I read Lord John and was extremely disappointed, maybe I just wanted more plot about the original characters and wasn't ready to let them go.

I agree. It wasn't nearly as entertaining, (for me), as the Outlander series. Not that it was a bad book, per se. I'm just all that into the whole 18th century gay bordello genre. Interesting, though. But no...definitely not one of my favorites.

I agree 100% with you. I don't see how she will be able to build a series on that character. I love your avitar, BTW.

I was reading somewhere, (most likely Gabaldon's website), that there are some plans in the works for a series about Master Raymond. I'm not sure how far you are in the series so I don't want to spoil anything for you. He's an apothecary she meets.

Heh. I love that avatar, too. And oh, soooooo appropriate for me, most days!
