Now, THIS was a great movie. If I had to pick one word to describe the subject, it would be passion. But not necessarily sexual passion although that is there and is a critical part of the story.

It's essentially the story of two sisters (Penelope Cruz plays one of the sisters) and the daughter of one of them (PC's character) and the lingering after effects of the death of their mother.

It has some interesting plot twists and really held my interest throughout the entire film.

I certainly can see the reason for the Oscar nod.

Totally agree, great movie. Though not really for guys, DH got bored about 30 minutes into it and went to sleep. I also think Almodovar is a genius although his movies have been getting darker and darker.
