    i need your help.

dh was in bosnia. the war, conflict, memories...and all the other stuff i dont give justice to here..means so much to him.

he is looking for a movie called Warriors. staring damian lewis.(also in band of brothers) it is a european film and also goes by the name Peacekeepers.

we have looked at netflix, blockbuster, barnes and noble, movies.com, ebay and amazon to name a few.

everything we find on it, it says not available on DVD in the UK, Australia, or north america. we dont care if its not DVD, as long as we can get a copy of it.

    thoughts, help?

The problem isn't going to be acquiring it, it's going to be playing it once you acquire it.

That was the problem with bringing DVDs to Russia- they're coded differently. The way it works is say for an American film, they're coded to play here first, then the next batch is coded to play here AND Europe, then the next batch is here, Europe and Australia, and so on. Some of the films are never coded to play in various parts of the world.

I would guess that it's probably available in the EU and EE/Russia but you may have to buy a dvd player from where ever you end up finding it.

thanks jenn. that never came to mind.

i hate to break it to dh. the only reason he knows about it, is because he saw it many years ago and taped it. a friend borrowed it, and the guys ds recorded over it.

You can always ask Alison to see if she can find it and ship it to you and then worst case scenario, maybe buy a cheapo dvd player from amazon in europe. (Kris' husband is quite familiar with the German Amazon site.)

Has it ever aired in the US? I'm thinking something like the History channel? DH had an obsession with a mini-series that ran when he was a child, I was able to find it through the History channel's catalog.

What about this one? If its VHS why wouldn't it play in a US VCR?

How about this? But I think Region 2 is not playable on US equipment.

Ravenclaw, we think alike! I told you I like this kind of hunting, I e-mailed BBC America to see if they have it and it is available for purchase, they don't have it listed on their website.

It *is* possible to get a cheapo DVD player here the US that can be hacked to play other regions; that's part of the reason we got the one we did, in fact. It's just a simple series of remote control button presses, and presto, we can play any DVD. PM me for details if you want them.

                          Purchasing the Warriors DVD

Warriors is a brilliant television drama (although not easy to watch). It stars several terrific British actors before they were stars – Damian Lewis, Matthew Macfadyen, Ioan Gruffudd, Jodhi May and others. It won the BAFTA (the British Oscar/Emmy) for best drama/mini-series, but it has never been easy to purchase and has only been released on PAL VHS tape in the UK and on Region 2 DVD in the Netherlands and France.

PAL or Region 2 tapes and discs will not play on NTSC/Region 1 equipment sold in North America. And don’t purchase a region 2 DVD player from Europe because it won’t be compatible with your NTSC/Region 1 television; but there are options. I bought an inexpensive, region-free DVD player that is compatible with US equipment and I’ve had it for several years and it has been great. It is also possible to hack DVD players to make them region free (but I’ve never tried it) and converted copies of the Warriors DVD are also available. You can actually download the entire Warriors program from YouTube (in about 20 parts!) Below are links to information that may be helpful. The opportunity to see excellent films like Warriors makes it worth the effort, good luck! KathyV

I bought my region free DVD player from this online vendor, I had a good experience and they offer a variety of products and price ranges

Email this Canadian vendor to purchase a good quality converted copy at a reasonable price. The copy will play on Region 1 (US and Canada) equipment.
