Saw it OMG - it's good.

      SPOILER ALERT:

I can't remember if the Voldemort trying to take over Harry's body at the Ministry actually happened in the book. Anyone?

Thank you! I tried to re-read ahead of time, but only got 1/2 way thru.

No problem. I'm a nerd with lots of commute time on the Metro on my hands so I go through a lot of books. I'm seeing HP in the morning, I can't wait!

Just got back from the theater and I have several gripes about discontinuity. The entire ending seemed out of whack. I'm going to go grab the book to make sure, but there just seemed like so much was enhanced for screen.

FANTASTICO! Although the Harry Potter dynasty could be used to sell Depends and I'd be like "OMG--that was such an awesome commercial".

Teeny gripes...this movie deviated more from the books than previous books. This is understandable b/c OOTP was the largest novel created. Still, I felt like if I hadn't read the book, I wouldn't have picked up on several important aspects of the movie. (Although again, I'd still probably have enjoyed it).

Now for the absolute petty gripes. Daniel Radcliff was allegedly playing a 15 y.o. boy. He had stubble in one of the sequences which showed him sleeping.

Agreed. And there were parts I was looking forward to seeing depicted on screen that they cut.

How perfect was Umbridge's office though? The pink paint on dingy castle walls was priceless.

I have to re-read too...didn't we miss a whole bunch of stuff about Longbottom? and the oldest Weasly?

I enjoyed the movie immensely, but upon further reflection...I feel they could have cut some of the montage stuff about Umbridge and Dumbledore's Army and added some other info that I remember being kinda important...right?

I just saw this movie yesterday and I agree it is very disjointed. They try to cover so much and yet it still wasn't enough. I think some parts needed more emphasis, especially the part about Voldermort having a connection to Harry's mind or the use of Veritas serum on Cho. The other parts that they left out like about the pensive, may make it hard to understand the later movies. I am going to check, but I think they would have done better to have the same screenplay writer for all the movies, so that there is some consistency and framework. The cinematography wasn't to my liking either. It seemed like the last ones had more of a fantasy feel to them, with very vibrant colors. All in all though I thought the ending was great. I finally felt the emotion of losing Sirius which I didn't feel while reading the book.
