Watched this last night with DH. It didn't have a lot of promotions when it was out in the theater, but it was a cute, fun fairy tale type of movie. It'd be a good family movie and only had one love scene that I'd consider PG-ish. Michelle Pfeiffer is an amusing villian in it.

I watched this too-- I screened it since it's PG-13 before I let Kate watch it. The love scene doesn't show anything- just two people going into a room, and then waking up the next morning so that one would know that they'd done something, but it's not any more risque than a TV show.

This movie stars Claire Daines-- and I really like her. She's great, IMO. It also has a subplot with Robert DeNiro that is kind of wierd... He's a cross-dressing pirate. Not sure how it fits in.... but I think it may be very funny to preteens?? That may be what the directors were thinking?

The movie was OK for me. A combination of Narnia, Pirates of the Caribbean, and some other witch-centered movie... A definite fantasy, but probably a safe bet for preteens. I bet teens would think it was too juvenille. I probably wouldn't have watched it if I didn't have to screen it to see if it was OK for Kate. DH fell asleep almost right away.
