  • I am Legend

DH and I went and saw this today.

I love Will Smith in action movies, I think he does a great job and this movie was no different. It was just over two hours long but was over in a flash. Great story line and I loved the way they presented the past and present.

    Four thumbs up from us!

    Re: I am Legend

This was the first movie I've seen in the theater since before DS was born (over 2 years ago!)!! We all thought it was good (I went with DH, my brother, and SIL), and Will Smith was fantastic and I thought the plot was sufficiently entertaining. SIL thought the storyline was "different," but - maybe b/c I feel like I've seen so many zombie/virus movies lately (28 Days Later? 28 Weeks Later? Planet Terror?) - I didn't think so. (Maybe we just watch too many movies? ) Anyway, we all thought it was a good movie.

Also, I remembered why we prefer to watch movies in the comfort of our finished basement with our own surround sound system. We had to sit through what seemed like an eternity of stupid previews and the people sitting around us were SO freaking annoying. Thank God for Netflix!

We saw this tonight. I thought it was mentally exhausting with the suspense. I DONT like scary movies- I cannot believe this was PG 13. I did think it was very similar to 28 days- but possibly more scary.

I found this movie disturbing. It was sci fi/ horror in my realm, and that's not generally a movie style I like. I think they should've gone ahead and set it a few more years out in the future, like 20 years or so. The whole premise of a virus being turned into a cure for "cancer", like there's just one cure and one type of cancer, well... And the side effect being people turned into arguably an entirely different species--- they really were more like alien demons to me.

It did move really quickly though, with non stop suspense, so if that's your thing, I think you'd like this movie.

          Re: I am Legend

We watched it on video this past week. It kept me from sleeping well that night, but it didn't give me nightmares like psychological thrillers do. (I make DH watch those by himself.)

I really thought the plot would be so far-fetched that I wouldn't like it. But it wasn't too bad! I mean, I did have several critiques of the plot, and DH laughed at me for even beginning to point out all the things that don't make sense in a sci-fi movie. But the movie still held my interest.

I think the part that I liked best was the main character's heroism & dedication to the cause... and then with the flashbacks you begin to understand why/how he could be so dedicated.

Mostly, though, I just like Will Smith!

            Re: I am Legend

One could argue you could check this out just for the scene of his doing pull-ups in his house...

Will Smith cracks me up because it seems that in every action movie he does there's a scene that's just about his posing and showing off his bodies. I think that may be the carrot they throw out there to women like me!

And I just wish they set it out more in the future-- then the sci-fi leaps you need to take for the plot would be easier to swallow for me.

I'm with Cumberland. this movie scared the bejeezuz out of me and I ended up on the computer with itunes blasting so I didn't have to listen to the rest of the movie. My blood pressure didn't return to normal for like an hour.

My husband liked it a lot- he said he'd give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Just confirmed that I am not cut out for that type of movie. Give me my foreign flicks any day.

I liked this movie okay, but the creepy creatures freaked me out and I made DH pull out the armoire doors in our hotel room to block the tv from where I was sitting when they were on screen. I had a few disturbing images as I drifted off to sleep that night, too. DS #1 really wants to see this....I am leaning towards yes, but not when I am home (or either of his brothers)!
