OMG- this was the best friggin' movie I have seen in a VERY long time. Basically it's the story of an Irish street musician who is befriended by a woman who ends up being a musician herself and it's the saga of their relationship and their music.

The soundtrack is amazing- if you like Damien Rice or Cat Stevens or Regina Spektor or Fiona Apple- there are elements of those singers in this soundtrack but the music is so, so much better than I can put on paper.

Sally- you need to see this, especially.

Amazing. I think I need to own it. It's THAT good.

ETA: the actors in the film are really musicians and wrote all of the songs in the film.

I just watched it last night. I loved it. I want to buy the soundtrack! This is just my style of music, and I appreciate how real foreign movies are-- everything doesn't have to end in a nice little perfect package... They like the movies to be realistic, thought provoking... I loved that he recorded with that broken guitar!

So, I just saw this movie and really liked it.

The guy is the lead singer from The Frames, who are a very popular band in Ireland with several albums, so anyone who liked the music should check them out. Not sure if they are known over here (have not been following new music lately at all)

Also, there is an album/project called the Cake Sale, that a bunch of Irish musicians put together for charity (I think Oxfam). I have it somewhere. I think one of the songs from the movie is on it. But that might also be something to check out for those of you that like this type of music

                  That's what subtitles are for!

I think I didn't need the subtitles for this one- but some of the really heavy British accents really throw me off!

love, love, LOVE this movie! It took me back to the days of playing piano with my guitarist friends. I had no talent (& I'm not just being humble), but OMG it was fun. I'm buying this movie.

The best part about it was how it captured those relationships we all have that strike a chord in us - something our spouses maybe can't do. It was nice for both DH & me to be able to talk about this, knowing that we both need those experiences, but also knowing we'll be faithful to each other.

Best movie I've seen in years.
