We watched this last night. I hadn't heard anything about it, and when DH brought it home, I was disappointed to see Tom Cruise & Meryl Streep on the cover (not my favorites).
The movie was made as a commentary on the war on terrorism, probably an attempt to encourage Democratic college students to vote. But I didn't think they pulled off the story line very well.
The best actors, IMO, were the two soldiers. I was even disappointed with that story line, though. I felt like it was an unkind attempt to make a political plea by playing with our emotions. I want the soldiers home, too, but they could have made their point better by focusing on the quality of the story itself.
