Movies Opening Thanksgiving Weekend

One Thanksgiving family tradition we have is we all go see movie after dinner. Sometimes we've watched movies at the house but most of the time we go out to a movie.

Opening this weekend are "Life of Pi", "Rise of the Guardians", and "Hitchcock".

There are two I want to see. Anyone going to see any of these?

I got a sitter. DrK and I are seeing Life of Pi on Saturday.

Lincoln opened Nov. 16th in most places in the USA. One of my co-workers was just mentioning they went and saw it and it was good so they'd recommend it.

I'd also like to go see Life of Pi because the book was so good.

I'm waiting for "Les Miserables" in December. Holy balls, it looks awesome.

DH and I were just talking about Life of Pi. Should we read the book before we see it?

I'd like to see Lincoln, too. We see about 5 movies a year, so I doubt any of this will happen, but you never know.

DH read Life of Pi in high school and said it was boring

I'm not sure it's necessary to read the book before the movie. I watched the Director's interview on making this movie and he said he couldn't believe he agreed to making the book into a movie because he didn't know how he was going to do it. It became a labor of love and took a longer than normal time. From the previews it seems like he did a magical job.

Les Miserables looks good but I'll probably wait until it's in the dollar theater or one DVD to see. I'm not sold on Anne Hathaway cast as Fantine.

Another friend just came out of the movies from seeing, "Life of Pi" and posted this message.

Life of Pi in 3D- amazing, beautiful, sad, heartwarming, unbelievable. Def recommend it. I have the book but never read it. I usually prefer to read book 1st, before seeing movie, but this was an exception- for an exceptional movie.

I taught it for years. A very good read. So glad the movie is well done- the book deserves a good movie!

A couple more of my friends are also headed in to see "Life of Pi". Now I'm more excited than ever to see it!

Dd18 and ds16 saw Life of Pi on opening day. They both had to read it for high school. Dd18 liked the middle part if the book and DS16 liked the end of the book. They both thought the movie was awesome and very well done.
