  • Lion King 1 1/2

My husband (after being in the hospital for about 34 hours straight) ran out and bought this the day it was released. I've seen it a few times, and it is pretty cute, but a little choppy. It basically starts when Timone and Pumbaa get together, so there is overlap with Lion King 1. You would have to be pretty familiar with Lion King to follow it, as they jump around to different scenes from that movie and show it from their perspective. There isn't as much music as the first one, either, but I liked the addition of Julie Kavner and Jerry Stiller as the voices of Timone's mom and uncle. One thing I really did like about it is that there really isn't much violence in this one (my 4 year old is very sensitive about this, unlike my 2 year old)--they cut away before scenes such as Scar being killed happen. I think an older, school-aged child would probably enjoy this movie, but I wouldn't buy it for the preschool age.

Thanks for the review. My children want this movie so this will factor into our decision-making!!!
