  • I am Sam

Wow, I actually got to go out and see a movie!

I am Sam is a tear jerker. Being a new mom I cried through out the movie and was very touched by the wonderful story. Sean Penn and the little girl played their parts very well. The storyline seems a little unrealistic when you really think about it, but the actors make it very believeable. I would recommend it to anyone.

My mom saw it and said it was a whole box of hankies movie. I am somewhat leary- I am in the field and I hate unrealistic portrayals of people with disabilities. I can't stand when they are portrayed as stupid- because some of the smartest people I know are diagnosed with mental retardation! That said, I have worked with quite a few that have gotten themselves pregnant and there's a whole host of issues that go along with it. So, I may go our of curiousity.

Ok, I finally saw it- and I have to say that Sean Penn has deserved every award he's ever received. He did an extgremely honest and accurate portrayal of someone with a mental handicap like MR. Fantastic.

and it is a 20 kleenex movie. I had to walk the dog and I ran into my next door neighbor and I'm all stuffy and blubbery and I had to explain that Rick was out of town and I was watching chick flicks- she understood.

Oh, I loved this movie. I'm going to have to get a blockbuster internet membership and order a bunch of movies.

Tearjerker is right. I watched this movie the other night and cried probably half a dozen times. Sean Penn was really amazing, and Dakota Fanning (I think that is who plays the little girl) does a really good job as well.
