    Christy,

I'm too afraid to watch it I've heard people say that at the end of the movie that you are startled into realizing that you don't know the reality of the situation anymore.....I have enough on my plate

I'd like to see it some day, I'm just a little weirded out by movies like that....would you say that it was really freaky?

It reminds me of two movies and for the life of me I can't remember either of the movies titles. One movies was about a man who played the piano and went crazy and in another movie, a chess player went nuts and commited suicide. Did you ever watch either of those two? That's what kind of movie it was.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it... It's too much mind playing.

I haven't seen it either, I'm almost afraid to see it. It was filmed right here, and some of my friends were extras in the movie.I'll have to rent it soon.

I saw this movie at the theatre a few months ago. It was really, really good! I really thought it was superbly done. True, the subject matter is not always easy. For me, it was believable, well done, and artful. I really liked it.

If you all are talking about the movie "A Beautiful Mind", I thought it was the best movie I have seen in quite a while. It was a great picture of committment within marriage, and it also gave a lot of insight into the world of someone with a mental illness.

Two thumbs up here --both hubby and I enjoyed this one.

Before this movie, I only understood pschizophrenia in a vague, academic sense. But like Christy said, the movie portrays the illness at such an intimate level, the reality of the situation IS hard to grasp and one gains sympathy for how overpowering the illness must be. Very cool.

I haven't yet seen it- working in the field I'm always wary of movies that portray mental illness or mental retardation because I hate when it's so obviously fake. But maybe I'll check this one out on video- Rick will be gone for 5 weeks from the end of August through September!

He's going to New Orleans for a Board prep class and then he does his last rotation at the other Army base.

                      Kelly & Kris,

I'm super sensitive, so it's just plain 'ole hard for me to watch these kinds of movies. I always seem to leave with a pit in my stomach. It was well written, directed, acted, it was a bit much me though...

Thanks for everyone's input!! I enjoyed coming back & reading this thread on your thoughts.
