I finally saw this movie and thought it was really good. It was definitely a more dramatic role for Adam Sandler and I thought he did a good job playing a serious character. It is basically about a woman and daughter who have immigrated to Los Angelos from Mexico--the mother starts working as a housekeeper for a successful chef and his family. I like that all of the characters are flawed and it doesn't tie up as nicely in the end as you think it might.

I liked it, too. You're right about the ending -- I was surprised how it ended in that it wasn't all nice and tidy. But....the ending came late IMO -- that movie was too dang long! Each studio should have a quota for the number of over 2 hour movies produced (j/k, but it's a pet peeve).
