  • The Family Stone

    Hi!
My husband and I saw this (IN AN ACTUAL THEATER! When was the last time we've done THIS?!) last night and really liked it. It's a tear-jerker comedy (in my opinion, good comedy is rooted in tragedy). Sarah Jessica Parker got nominated for a Golden Globe for this role, and rightfully so. She brings a lot of neurotic, self-aborbed Carrie moments to her character in this movie.

Parker's character (Meredith) is invited by her boyfriend to visit his family over Christmas. The family is very laidback and liberal. The family notices right away that Meredith is very cold and uncomfortable around them and they torture her over the few days that she is there.

Enjoy! If you DO go see it, post your reactions here! I'd curious to know what you all think!

I saw this on opening day and loved it. It was such a great combination of actors, I loved every second of the movie. Each actor has his/own quirky contribution to the movie and it was a joy to watch. I will definitely own this one on DVD when it comes out.

the most important question, what is she wearing and how does her hair look? SJP is my new Audrey Hepburn in terms of fashion. :!

My DH and I saw this with my in-laws. It was good but not what I was expecting. I thought it was a comedy, not sad. But still very good.

I watched it last night with a friend of mine and we enjoyed it. I think the beginning of the movie was more entertaining and realistic than the end. The end was quite sad. There are some interesting twists to this movie and it is definitely Netflix worthy. I don't know if I would pay the $10.75 it cost here to watch it but overall I enjoyed it. I am waiting to see Match Point...looks interesting and I really like Woody Allen movies.
