Once again, in my continuing quest to see the classics.
I have to say this one is really cute. I'm sure at the time it was walking the line, too.
So, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are band members in a Speakeasy that was busted by the cops. They of course didn't get paid so they're desperate for work. They find out about this gig in Florida for two girls who play the same instruments that they do and consider going in drag but instead decide to play a concert at the University of Illinios in Urbana- when just as they were gasing up the borrowed car, in comes the mob and offs a bunch of guys- and they then sneak out and take the job as members of the girls band.
Marilyn Monroe is in it as one of the girls in the girls band.
Of course, hilarity ensues once the guys are on the train to Florida with all of the band members.
If you want something light and fluffy and innocent- this is a good one.
