  • Curious George

Absolutely adorable! We went as a family and all 4 of us really enjoyed it. It kept the boys attention - and was still enjoyable for dh and I. Best of all - there was no name calling (none of the stupid, jerk, dummy, idiot that you get w/Disney and Pixar) or violence (no matter how fake).

And I see from the previews that the Man with the Yellow doesn't "kidnap" George and stick him in a bag in this version.

I logged on for the express purpose of giving this movie a six thumbs up! We had a family date tonight and all three of us loved it. I am a hard one to please in the kiddie genre...i have spent too many graduate hours critiquing children's entertainment, but this was fun, engaging, and true to the books...artistically speaking. I am going to go buy the sound track tomorrow...if it is available.

I saw it at Costco today.
Wow, a movie for kids that I might be able to take my daughter to? That would be great!

You can get the soundtrack on iTunes, too.

Tracy - you're right - George is not kidnapped, he follows the man. It's the rare book-turned-into-movie that the story is actually improved! It's just really, really sweet.

Usually DS likes to read about three books before bedtime. I discovered Curious George on his book shelf (my mother is a reading specialist...we have nearly a whole library of children's books). It was the only book he wanted to read over and over. He even went to bed with it...I can only assume the movie made an impact.

Side Note: I didn't remember the original book when we saw the movie...the original story is a bit...I don't know...messed up.
