Ok, so yet another period piece set in Europe.

BUT this one was different because 1) It didn't have Reese Witherspoon or Kate Winslet or Rupert Everet... and 2) because it was good!

It's basically the story of the girl in Vermeers painting and how she came to be in the painting. It has tragedy written all over it and you know from the first frame that nothing is going to end well, but it was still a very engaging story.

ITA with this but I wish the movie incorporated the ending that was in the book. I felt that the movie really didn't have the closure that the book did.

I didn't read the book but my mom said much the same thing. Makes me want to get the book for my plane ride to Texas!

I didn't want to tell you the book's ending in case you might want to read it yourself. It's a very small book (you'll finish it on the flight there) and the movie is pretty close to it otherwise.
