The King and I

Again, this one was in the 'classics' I've never seen category.

It's aged relatively well although some of the scenes made me cringe. Very few of the actresses playing the wives of the King were actually Asian (same for the kids but there were more Asian kids than mothers). Other than those minor complaints, it was pretty good.

The costumes were great and of course the songs are famous.

I'd let most kids see it if they were interested. Provided that one felt comfortable in explaining why the King of Siam had more than one wife....(see polygymy debate thread...)

I LOVE this movie -- but I agree, it's NOT politically correct with respect to casting.

I take into consideration the time period but... well ...nuf said.

I need to see this--I have had a few people tell me my dh looks like Yule Brenner in this (could be just because he is bald and playing a Pacific Islander, who knows?).

yeah - it's because he's bald and playing a Pacific Islander. F looks nothing like Yule Brenner, IMO.
