  • streaming Yahoo music

I'll probably date or embarrass myself with this one, but I've just found that I can stream Yahoo radio for free, and I really enjoy it. You can create your own 'radio station' by entering artists you enjoy, and the music plays on and on for free. Every 3 or 4 songs there is a 30 second (probably 15 second) commercial, and then back to music you like. And it's not all the artists you selected, they add others that are somewhat similar. You have the ability to rate songs, artists, and albums, so if someone gets thrown in there you REALLY don't like (mine started playing BRITNEY last night) you can select "never play that again).

    Just thought I'd share.

Heh. Even better, if you happen to be stuck with AT+T/yahoo DSL, like we are, the premium radio service is included; no ads, unlimited fast-forwarding of songs you don't like, and all the stations are available. I just stumbled across this myself a few weeks ago (thanks to the link here to that Melissa Ethridge song, iirc!). They have a bunch of preset stations, too. DH likes "80's alternative" and "goth rock" (which is more industrial than it sounds from the title). I mostly have "classical" on while I'm working, but I kinda like "the coffeehouse" and some of the 80's ones, too.

I've done this with Pandora (found on here of course. We are so cool. )

Is the Yahoo music service better?

I've also gotten in to listening to new bands on MySpace before the official release dates for new stuff. I'm jamming to Northern State these days after listening to four "prereleases" on MySpace for a few weeks. Wets the appetite.
