  • Suzanne Vega

I went to her concert last night. Apparently she has a new album out -- hence the tour. I went for the chance to get out and because I've liked her music in the past. It was a nice show. She has such a beautiful voice. She opened with Tom's Diner a capella and closed with it but with her band and more of a rock version.

DH and I went through most of our courtship in the actual Tom's Diner on Broadway. I have her old albums and a compilation of various versions of Tom's Diner by a whole slew of bizarre artists. Very sentimental. I'm glad the show was good. I'll have to check out her new stuff.

I really liked it. Lots of stuff about NYC. I just looked -- it's Beauty and Crime. How soon I forget these details... I think she did 4 or 5 songs from that and also Luka, Marlene on the Wall, Caramel (love that one), Blood Makes Noise, Small Blue Thing.

Lately my favorite song is her cover of China Doll. She wasn't taking too many requests though.

There was a somewhat recent NY Times article on her and the new album and the inspiration for some of her songs. Aha, here it is. If you are feeling sentimental, you might enjoy it.

I'm glad you had fun! She's never been an artist that I've sought out, but I've always enjoyed her music when I've been around it. I'm sure I would have liked the show.

Very cool about Tom's Diner Angie ... neat story and way to "capture" it.

          Jealous! Luka is my favorite.

DH and I recently heard a song she did with Dan Zanes (yep, these days our lives revolve around kid music ) and it reminded us to go back and listen to some of her old stuff. She does have a beautiful voice.
