OK- some of you younger members may not know or care- but- for those of us of a certain age, ESPECIALLY from the East Coast-

The E Street Band was what made Bruce Springsteen the rockstar that he is. Yes, he led them and wrote the music but he needed those guys. First Danny Federici (from melanoma in 2008) and now the Big Man.

I've lost count how many times I've seen those guys live. I think the first time was 1985 (because I wasn't allowed to go to concerts much before then) and pretty much every tour since then and extra shows as well.

I'm sad. The end of an era.

I'm not a huge fan of Bruce, but I am a Jersey girl, first and foremost. My FB news feed is blowing up with posts about him.

So sad, especially since he was just getting his health back after a series of surgeries.

never much cared for springsteen, but I saw clarence clemons play numerous times with the grateful dead, and he was amazing.
he always seemed like a big gentle man, and he and garcia really hit it off.

That U2 tribute was really touching, I thought.
