I heard an interview with her on NPR over the summer- wrote down her name and then promptly lost the information. Fast forward to San Antonio- the local college radio station (KSYM 90.9 for those with streaming media) started playing her music.
She's Russian- left Russia as a young girl. She's a classically trained pianist and started singing later. Think Tori Amos crossed with Ani DeFranco and a little Fiona Apple thrown in- with a Russian accent.
She's got two albums out- the newest one is Begin to Hope. The single they've been playing is Apres Moi. (for those of you with iTunes, etc.)
Check it out!
