TV generally sucks right now. We are patiently waiting for new episodes of "The Office" and "Chuck" to come out. In the mean time, something must fill the void. And what better choice than a show about cute, furry animals: Greatest American Dog.
It pits dogs (and their humans) up against one other in feats of obidience and control. The winner of each "challenge" gets to stay gold bone suite (which has fake green grass carpet, for the dog?) and the loser gets to stay in the "doghouse", which is nothing more than a human size dog house. Each episode has a dog/human pair being sent home.
Some of the dogs and humans are so sweet together. I really like Travis and Presley (a brindle boxer) - they are very sweet together, and Preston is well behaved. They might have a shot at winning the whole thing. I also like Laura and Preston (a Pomeranian). That is because my only dog was a little, white fluffy ppodle/terrier mix named Baby (don't ever name a dog Baby - bad idea), so I am automatically enamored with any small, white, fluffy dog.
The other half is rooting for David and Elvis (a Parson Russell), although he knows they don't have a shot at winning. His only dog was a Jack Russell and he loves the dogs playful spirit and intelligence. They were also the first dog/human duo to spend the night in the "doghouse", so Elvis has some issues to work out.
The website for the show is http://www.cbs.com/primetime/greatest_american_dog/ and it is on CBS on Thursday nights.
