  • Project Runway - season3

Season 3 debuted last night! What did everyone think?

I'm sure EVERYONE watches ... right??

DH was so sure that the Standford grad / Harvard MBA would 'win it' just b/c she has business sense - but she was booted first round! Although the guy w/the crazy hat who cashed in his 401K probably should have gone, IMO.

    I'm excited.

I thought the winning dress was lovely (and amazing, considering he'd NEVER made a dress), but I was irritated that he got by the "innovation" part by using a bed sheet and some buttons from a duvet cover. My favorite was Robert's ... the one by the Barbie designer. I also liked the one made by the mom of 5 who "never dresses down".

You may remember that this is my favorite show. Well, we moved and signed up for satellite . . . and Bravo isn't one of our channels. Woe is me!! I will spend Wednesday nights gnashing my teeth and rending my garments.

No! How sad. We'll fill you in, I promise. Maybe you could find a gay bar that shows it.

I caught the re-run tonight since I missed it last night. I love the winner! Kinda felt bad for the other girl, but what can you do... The mom reminds me of Brie from Desperate Housewives. If only she drank wine like Brie, I think we'd have more of a connection. haha. But I love her stuff. I'm excited for the new season!

Julie - you can download the episodes from iTunes. It's 1.99 a show. I'm not sure that's a budget necessity, but if you really need to see it.....it's available!

God I love this show!!! I was also irritated that he got by with the innovation thing, especially since he had such an attitude about everyone's designs. At least Santino had a sense of humor.

Did you catch Tim Gunn's comment on the "Road to the Runway" show, about anticipating spending 2 hours with Santino making his "head bleed"?

After season 2 was over, Tim went public w/some pretty funny comments about both Santino and Zulema (who was a total NUT).

Just that: "The thought of having to spend 2 hours with Santino was enough to make my head start bleeding."

He was not a fan. In his blogs (I'm ashamed that I read them) he said that Santino was FAR more outrageous and disruptive than made it into the show. He said that Zulema was totally out of control, and that many of the other contestants were afraid of her. She is the only one that would refuse the little chit-chats w/Tim, and after every challenge was presented, she would steal the whole bolt of muslin that was intended for everyone's use and not let anyone touch it.

I was torn. I thought wacky chain-hat guy (Vincent?) could have been sent home too. I didn't like how Angela was trying to latch onto Kanye from the get-go, and I loved that he denied her. But originally when Angela was actually trying to help, Vincent wouldn't give her anything to do! She did get bitchy. Oh - plus in the original "pitch" she didn't have any sketches and Miss USA clearly thought she was a nut. That should have factored into the decision.

Malan was honorable enough to say it was his design and he should go. I didn't like him to begin with (the accent cannot be real), but I did feel bad.

Did you watch the Road to the Runway? Both Malan and Angela were super annoying on it.

Which was your favorite? I liked Kayne / Roberts (and they worked well together), and I really liked Laura / Michael's. It seemed like they worked really well together, too.

Imagine what that will do for his business! If he wins nothing else on this show - he's still totally set!!

Plus, it was so much fun to see the gay guys working in such harmony.

Keith had fashion guides and pattern books in his room, which is on the "not allowed" list. Apparently the producers had heard rumours that someone still had such contraband and had asked several days earlier to please turn them in ... yet Keith did not. There were also drawings on his work table that were replicas of patterns in the pattern book. He also bolted from the production for 4 hours, and used the internet - both not allowed.

Not all of that made the final cut of the show. Some was in Tim's podcast, and some was on bloggingprojectrunway.com . I'm a bit of an addict.
