yes -- been watching rather obsessively ....

chalk it up to hormones, but i teared up at the American sweep in women's fencing. i'm sure it won't be the last time.

I actually gave in and ordered cable just for the Olympics! Even basic cable seems really espensive here but it will be worth it for this couple of weeks
I'll watch anything. I love watching things that you just don't see on TV normally, like gymnastics. My favorite is track & field though, can't wait for that.

Yes! We've been watching it. My parents get Canadian TV and it's more balanced as far as whom they show.
I'm honestly sick of NBC's coverage (yes, already). I don't just want to see American competitors.

I'm so obsessed, I've been glued all week. I know what you mean about seeing only American athletes though.

I grew up with Michael Phelps in Baltimore though, he's a true sweetie. And the pieces about the closeness between him and his mom are not fabricated, they really are that close. I adore him!

Alison, have you been watching the other channels? MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Telemundo? I'm finding they are having more "other country" coverage. I think its reasonable for NBC to show mostly American coverage b/c that is who most Americans are interested in.

                    Re: OLYMPICS!

I've only watched MSNBC other than NBC. Oh wait, I did see some women's handball on Telemundo yesterday, I think.

According to my mom, the Canadian channel shows events that the Canadians are in, the US (my mom saw the women's gymnastics qualifying this morning), and more Australian and Asian countries.

I *so* don't want to download the Microsoft program that nbcolympics.com is using. But I want to see the opening ceremonies and more of the competitors in the events that have caught my fancy so far! Gah, decisions. :P

That is exactly why we got cable! It is not as easy as I had hoped to watch online!

I have to say though I am also very disappointed in the NBC coverage. I miss CBC

anyone watch the interview sunday night during the olympics? bob costas had GW on set. good gawd, i cannot stand to listen to him or watch him. dh kept hushing me so he could hear it. then... !! dh, my hard core republican honey said, "he does sound kinda dumb doesn't he?"

bob asked GW if he was going to go watch_______?(can't remember what it was).
GW said, "yeah. if you ever let me off this set." that was the best part of the interview. bob just kept throwing questions at GW and you could tell he was getting annoyed.
and finally...from my fav. gossip website. the "caption of the day contest"

I stayed up way too late last night watching the swimming and men's gymnastics. It was really cool that the men's gymnastics team earned a bronze considering most if not all of them were newbies. One of them (Joe Hagerty) is actually from where I'm from so that made me especially proud.

Its because its live, China is 12 hours ahead of NY so if they didn't show it live during late night it wouldn't be on prime time and they can't afford to do that.
