  • My $.02

    Hi Luanne,

I'm sorry to hear that your best friend is moving away. I had the same situation when my best friend moved to another country after we graduated college. She's since returned ) But I remember feeling sooo lonely after she left.

Have you looked into the unlimited free long distance plans offered by many cell phone companies? (I use Cingular and it has saved me so much $ when I call Jay.) This way, it gives you so much flexibility to pick up the phone whenever you want and not have to worry about minutes or time of day.

Also, what about IM-ing each other during the day. It's free and spontaneous.

Like Kelly said, road-trips are an absolute must. They'll be something you and your family can look forward to.

If I think of anything else, I'll post again.

    Hugs,
    Dures

Thanks for the encouragement!!! We are already planning a trip. My friend Barbara and I have had a dinner club for the past year with 6 women, and last night was our last dinner with her (she moves on Sat). Another frind of hers and I are planning to fly to Chicago to meet Barbara for a weekend (no husbands or kids) and try out a few restaurants!! I do have the cell phone and computer, so I will make great use of it!! Thanks again for the encouragement.

      Luanne,

A trip to Chicago for an all-girls' night out sounds like sooo much fun. I'm sure the time will fly from now to then.

BTW, in case you wanted to send Barbara a "welcome" or "Miss you" or any other reminder, I highly recommend cookiebouquets.com Love 'em. (They have quite a selection of cookie "flower" bouquets & arrangements) I've used them a number of times and recommended them to friends who've enjoyed their unique gifts. I sent a dozen long-stemmed "red roses/cookies" to Jay one year and he was pleasantly delighted.

      Hope that helps.

      Take care.
