This is a fun idea!
Yes, Matt, I hear you there....I stopped looking forward to getting the mail several years ago. As a sahm for awhile it was the highlight of my day Now I don't even check it...I just let Thomas get it when he comes home....
Luanne, that stinks about New Years.....it really does!
Anyway to follow up with this thread:
You know you are a medical spouse when ....
you hear your husband's pager in the middle of the night before he does and you have to wake him up to answer it! 8)

You know you're a medical spouse when you have strange rituals that involve the pager. When we go to a movie we choose seats that are easy to get up from, and he puts the pager on vibrate and I keep the cell phone in my bag. If the pager goes off during the movie, he elbows me, I hand him the phone and he slips out to take the call. I'd hate to say how many times we've done this...

Your two year old know how to correctly use and name a stethoscope, otoscope, and blood pressure cuff.
Your children assume everyone's daddy works at the hospital "making sick people better"
Your spouse isn't sympathetic to your aching back and swelling feet during the last days of pregnancy because they are taking care of much sicker people every day.
Your firstborn's umbilical cord is not the first one your spouse has ever cut, nor is your baby being born the first birth they have witnessed.
(I can only think of pregnancy and kid ones--I've been around pregnant friends a lot lately!)Awake is the new sleep!

When you've got that one room in the house that can be used as the after-call room. It's dark, isolated, and quiet. When my DH was a 3rd year, we had to put foil on our master bedroom window so he could sleep during the day. It was foiled up for a year! I think our neighbor thought we were trying to hide kinky behavior!

(I wanted to add another)
My daughter recently started doing this.....and the pediatrician said it was quite normal for children of doctors.
When your son/daughter picks up the phone and puts it to his/her ear and says "Dada?"
Our pediatrician said she has a patient who father is a resident as well in another program, and the child associates the phone with Daddy.

Yeah, I can definitely see why Dr.'s kids would associate the phone with their parent! Last night, after a whole weekend of dad being at the hospital, our youngest (16 months) carried around his picture for awhile and kept pointing at it and saying "Dadda". I told my husband and it nearly broke his heart! We were joking that we'd get a life-sized cutout of him and lay it in the bed and when he is goine a lot we'd just tell him that was him so they wouldn't miss him so much!Awake is the new sleep!

Awww... That touched my heart. I wrote a journal entry about my own similar experience: (But Dada's at work...)
