EXACTLY. If I were a churchgoer -- that is exactly the kind of church I'd go to.

Well, shortly before my wedding, I was becoming anxious that things would get out of control at the rehearsal. I pretty much figured that everyone would have their own opinion about how the processional, ceremony, etc. should be conducted. I mean, every one had plenty of opinions before and the rehearsal would be the last opportunity for them to be heard before the wedding. I rembered my SIL bursting into tears at her rehearsal when the entire wedding party started second guessing the plans and I really didn't want to have that happen. (Things did get out of hand at the rehearsal but that's another story.)

So, I enlisted my mom as an ally. She's always been my best partner in crime. I asked her to be enthusiastic and supportive about our ceremony decisions and to just stick with the program, no attempts to negotate or restage even if we say that we are all going to crawl down the asile on all fours.

Without missing a beat my mom says, "Oh yes, I've seen it done before. I believe it was at a Vanderbelt's wedding. It was very elegant."

          I thought it was sweet.

Be joyful. I like to think God likes seeing us happy.
          ITA. Great sentiment!

But I'll agree, never in a million years at any wedding ceremony of mine.
I don't know, I'll keep it in mind for when Sven and I go legit in Vegas in a few years.

I thought it was great! But then, I'm of the opinion that weddings are way overblown and expensive. This is nice and lighthearted. (not that *I* would ever do it, lol)

Auspicious, I chuckle every time I think about Walter Payton almost "attending" your wedding.

Oof. Yeah, definitely a wedding-planning glitch. Live and learn.

OMG I loved it!!!! Those two will be very happy. A sense of humor is so very important. I think that God (whoever he or she is to any one person) has a sense of humor and love. My own wedding to Jory was a "little different".

I mean, to each their own, but I thought it reduced the ceremony to an exercise in silliness and immaturity. Save it for the funny moments at the reception.
                      I agree completely.

Hopefully, I'm not overreaching by suggesting to represent "those of us who weren't impressed," but...I hope folks know that those of us who were unimpressed by what we perceive to be bad taste re: the decision to "boogie" down to the aisle--it's not that we have no sense of humor or that we think that God is sterile or joyless.

We're not wet blankets. I think, for some of us, the act of saying the vows and the presentation of the couple for that ceremony is supposed to be both joyful and solemn (not somber--it's not a funeral--just solemn). The two concepts aren't mutually exclusive. As you walk down the aisle, you are symbolically approaching God (or, in the Catholic/Orthodox churches, you wer actually approaching God, in the eucharist at the altar). You are in the final moments before you make a lifelong covenant before God--something that is not to be taken lightly. Approach the altar with joy, but with the respect that comes from being the moment before you make a covenant. It's not a moment for "America's Funniest Videos." After you've made the commitment and the officiant announces that the ceremony is over and everyone stands and claps, THEN go nuts. Or boogie. Or whatever.

I just didn't want people to think that those of us who found it a little--crass or sophomoric, or whatever--are devoid of a sense of humor. I suspect that many of us just found the timing of the stunt to have cheapened the moment. Personally, I thought, "Haha. Very cute and funny. And light. WAY too light. It looks like something high schoolers would do for a big, splashy entrance to the Prom."

I think it's being "over thunk"

I know this isn't the debate area, and some will never agree...but, yeah...it's been "over thunk" and I'm just enjoying it for what it is/was.

Fun, cute, enjoyed by all there...by two people who have a great sense of humor and are starting their life together with a fun memory!!

I think it was great! Got everyone in the celebration & worship mood. I did not watch anything that came across as vulgar just seemed like all were ready for what was coming next...the ceremony. As someone who just returned from a wedding....I would have welcomed this. The wedding I just attended I think lacked that sense of celebration. Granted it was an older couple - second marriage fro one and third for the other but c'on - I felt like it was just going through the motions.

It is not in the video, but since it stops at the ceremony, I can only assume that this part was serious. What a fun couple.

The only thing that I felt bad about were some of the groomsmen who looked like they could not dance.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!
