  • Happy Friday Happy Things

What are you happy about today?

I'm thrilled that my new choir class has gone from whining, complaining 7th/8th graders to a group of girls who are excited about singing!

I'm also excited because our roommate is moving out on Sunday - we'll miss him, and he's not exactly going to have the most fun moving back with his parents, but I'm ready to be on my own again (and have a clean house!)

I am thrilled because for the first time as a parent and as a wife, I have a fully plugged in husband. He has picked up DS1 TWICE from lacrosse this week so that I don't have to sit in the car for an hour with two other kids. He is watching the two youngest tonight while I go out with my college friends. Most nights we talk, we eat dinner together, he puts his dishes in the dishwasher!

I can count on two hand the number of times DH did kid activity/playdate/party pickups over the last decade. I can't believe how much our family life has improved.

I also found $30 at Target on the floor today. No one around me claimed it, so I bought a cute tshirt.
In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

      Awesome about the choir!

I'm happy that it is Friday and there is no school tomorrow! =)

I'm happy because our bar is finished downstairs and the pool table/air hockey table we bought was delivered and put together yesterday. The kids had a great time playing together and then later Thomas and I went head-to-head in a game of billiards! LOL

The sun is shining, the snow is melting and .... it's FRIDAY (I know...I already said that! LOL)

On the upswing from the rant thread: the surgery on my ankle went really well! The pain is manageable, and my husband has done a really great job taking care of me/helping me out. Ahhh, I can feel the darvocet begin to kick in now...

How did I not know you teach choir?? I was a total choir kid.. well, in hs, in middle school I was a band dork. My favorites were Moses Hogan arrangements and Fauré - the former for the harmonies, the latter for the melodies.

Anyway, I love Fridays at work b/c they're more laid back... and I have a fun-filled weekend planned with 4-5 different groups of friends! Woot.

I do teach choir...not exactly the way that I would want to in an ideal world, but I am teaching them more about music/reading music than they know when they come to me...that's the goal! I did Fauré in college...loved it! DH wanted me to do a selection from Carmina Burana with my 15 middle school girls who have never sang before

I survived Target with a cranky toddler and then demonstrated reason #249 why I love homeschooling. I took all three kids shoe shopping at 10am on a Friday morning. No crowds, no fighting for a parking space at the outlet center near our house, no line to wait in to pay for 3 pairs of sneakers. It was lovely. Even though Kenny insisted on the Buzz Lightyear sneakers that do not come in XW in his size. I have to cram his chubby size 10XW feet into a size 10.5m. ha ha! He's so happy with them that I don't care!
