  • Liisi, that's funny because I've been feeling the same way. Today is just so totally "normal" and I wasn't mentally prepared for that!

I went through this exact same thing with Hurricane Issac just a few months ago. I was *so* freaking prepared for that storm and... nothing. It just rained. Not even a power flicker. It took me like 2 days to reset. I was, in a strange and kinda sick way, disappointed.

      • Today was very productive at work.

Today I was asked by a barista if I was due in a few weeks. :/ No, February. Thanks for asking...

        Today I'm absolutely exhausted.

        • Today was another IEP meeting for the little dude and I cannot get over how professional and on top of things this district is with special needs kiddos. Such a great experience.

              That's great! I'm glad you've found a good fit.

Today, I did lots of prep for our block Halloween party I'm hosting tomorrow.

Today, DD both wore my patience thin and made my heart happy.

              • Today I realized that my headache and much of my general funk from the last couple days was because I hadn't had enough tea. That's right, apparently I drink enough tea that I'm addicted to caffeine from it. I didn't have much over the weekend and didn't make any yesterday morning when I started working... insta-headache and crabby day. So this morning I drank 5 cups. All better now.

                • Today, I want to pretend I am sick and spend the day in bed. I'm tired.
Today was day 5 for Insanity. I'm tired.
Today DH is post-call after working 7 days in a row and getting no sleep. I've been a quasi single parent. I'm tired.
Yesterday, I took my daughter, the one who didn't mind missing school to meet an Olympic gymnast, McKayla Maroney where she was promoting Kellog's cereal and the gymnastics tour. I think I was more excited.
Yesterday, DD3 had her six year well check. She gained 15 lbs in the last year. She is obese. I came home and threw out all the junk food that my husband bought. Big time parent fail!

Absolutely not a parenting fail. The fail would be if you said "meh - who cares" and didn't change anything. This is an opportunity for you and your DH to model good eating and exercise habits (or create them if needed).

                    • Today I took a kid to physical therapy, ran by Target, made a tutu, cat ears, and turned a hair accessory into a cat tail, and only had one meltdown. I didn't argue when E said she was willing to miss ballet. We're supposed to be at our friends' house 30 minutes away at 6:30 or 7. I haven't heard from DH so I have no idea if he'll be home in time to go with us. If he leaves work now, it will take an hour to get home. If he leaves in 30 minutes it will take 1.5 hours to get home. Sigh. It's almost 4:30.

                      • Today DH ASSURED me he'd be home by 5:30 so that he could take the kids trick or treating while I handed out candy. "Two short cases, no problem!" Yep! Guess who's not home!

I think I may just rest easy, eat my homemade candy, and snuggle my baby.

                              • Dh is magically home for a holiday for a change and will take O out trick or treating as I hand out candy in a bit.

I am in line with bags of candy. Dh looked at the large bowl in the kitchen stuffed with candy & proclaimed it was not enough! So, here I am, arms loaded down with more bags of candy. Oy.
