  • Today...there is also a saxaphone player on the corner across the street from my office window right now. He's really talented. The music floating up is really making me happy. I think I'm going to go give him a couple bucks...

      • Today I got caught up in a lockdown at the elementary school. It was no big deal but try telling that to scared kindergarteners.

        • I picked up diapers for a "diaper study". I explained the guidelines to DH and when he found out we have to return the used diapers he says "are we really that poor?!" I may be cheap but I'll gladly participate if it means free diapers and aome extra income!

                  • Today I may or may not have used the term "batshit crazy" while referencing DD1's batshit crazy band director during a conference with DD1's advisor.

He may or may not have agreed.

                    • Today was my weekly "date" with K1. We spent most of the day going to garage sales in search of "a big red, white, and grey tricycle just like [his] for [K2's] birthday". K1 is bound and determined to find this at a garage sale. I tried to stack the deck in his favor by scheduling a meet up with another mommy (friend of a friend) through local yard sale website. We went to about a half-dozen random garage sales and then wandered around the parking lot outside a dentist's office while I explained to K1 that some people don't have garages so they drive around with trikes in the back of their cars to sell. K1 had $15 burning a hole in his pocket -- the pre-agreed upon price and more money than he's ever imagined. Unfortunately, it was the wrong trike! Ahhhhh! He rejected it and now I'm trying to coordinate a meet up with another mommy. I'm thinking of just buying the trike new, assembling it and hiding it in a friend's garage, and letting K1 "buy" it from them.

                        • I pinned this headboard on Pinterest a few weeks ago thinking I'd have to make it or would never find it:

                          http://pinterest.com/pin/79094537178229407/

On another message board today, I was alerted to the fact that World Market makes a bed almost exactly like it, and it was on sale, with free shipping. That would have been awesome enough.

                          http://www.worldmarket.com/product/julian-bed.do

So of course I went to a World Market to check it out and discovered that they are no longing carrying it in stores, so any floor models were $299 instead of the $399 on sale price. I made a lot of phone calls and went to 2 stores to discover there was only one left in the DFW metroplex, at the store near my parents where I had to pick N up anyway.

Even better...it was damaged. Not a big deal to me because I didn't really want the frame anyway, just the headboard.

So I got it marked down to $150.

                          And then I had a 10% coupon.

                          So ~$146 with tax. BOOYAH.

                              • I'm so proud of myself. I admit it.

Also, a wooden pallet fell over next to the cart N was in while I was looking at the headboard in the back with the manager. It wasn't near her, but startled the heck out of her. She might be a little traumatized, but the manager was a grandma and that may have helped me on the price too...I know. I'm shameless.
