  • My newest pick me up

I just tried something that I read in a magazine and it felt FANTASTIC! I went through the house and tried to find fifty things to give away, donate to charity, or throw out. If you count each paper in the stacks of paperwork, I probably threw out 400 things! It felt fantastic. I went through old broken toys, gave away canned goods we'll never eat, set aside clothing that we hadn't worn in three years, and generally lightened our load.

I can't recommend this type of fen shui enough. Literally, it felt like all this crap was weighing me down. I'm FREE!

As part of my new year's resolution, I think that I'm going to try to get rid of 25 things at the beginning of each month because I'm vowing to become less of a consumer.

    Try it!

Cool, Kelly! I've gotten addicted to that show on TLC "Clean Sweep" and after watching the organizer shaming people about being sentimental about "things" I went through the house and collected a whole bunch of stuff. Goodwill has gotten 14 bags of clothes, household goods and assorted tchochkes so far, with more to come. I'm trying to stick with the quote from William Morris: ""Have nothing in your homes that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."

I think we're on to something!
