So...I'm going to do a "Happiness Project" starting November 1st. Anyone ever done one or read "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin?

I haven't read it - what does it involve?
Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

I think I own this book! Wait, no, I have the sequel, Happier at Home. I think I got Happiness Project from the library. I used to listen to Gretchen Rubin's podcast and really enjoyed it. I confess I never really considered doing a Happiness Project myself but I'm certainly up for a re-read.

So, you mull over what makes you happy and what doesn't. Then, you set up monthly topics that you want to work on....like Parenting, Marriage, Career, Friendships, etc. one for each month. Then you set specific resolutions that you contemplate and work towards each day throughout the month. For example, my first month is what I call "Change my Attitude". My resolutions are: Find the Good/Be Positive, I can do hard things (I tend to be a wimp and whine a lot), Keep a Gratitude Journal, This too shall pass...., and Stop Feeling sorry for myself. I am working on losing what I consider to be a very negative attitude. So, I am starting off my year with that. I am also going to work on Parenting, my Marriage, Intellectual Growth, My Health, Friendships, Time, Home Atmosphere and Changing the World (in any tiny ways I can, I guess--like riding my bike to the store or finding volunteer jobs). The author began it because she said "I am not unhappy , but EVERYONE can be MORE happy." So far, my Gratitude Journal is really a great.
