  • What do your shoes say about you?

I got an email with this title in my hotmail inbox (spam, spam, spam) but I thought this would be a fun thing to post about....

My shoes say that I am cheap 8) and that I'm on my feet a lot. I have a pair of birkenstops that scream (vote for me for the ugliest toes award) and then a pair of worn out athletic shoes that I know were once white. For work I have two pairs of shoes...both identical..one pair is black and the other is navy blue...they are inbetween heels and flats.....

So I guess I'm cheap and boring 8)

I guess mine would say that I'm boring and not very trendy. I don't own very many pairs of shoes--running shoes, a few pair of brown shoes and maybe one pair of black shoes. They are pretty worn since I don't really like shopping for new shoes. Also, I don't own a single pair of uncomfortable shoes. I've actually been thinking of shoes a lot lately because I want to get some shoes that will look good with jeans. I think I've settled on the "athletic inspried" tennis shoes in probably brown with maybe a little splash of color. I had to consult with my sister on this since she is trendy and always looks perfect.

Mine would say that I apparently don't want anything touching the back of my heel! I have TONS of sandals (bear in mind I have lived in an extremely warm climate for the past 7 years) and none of them have any kind of strap on my ankle or heel. I don't wear shoes inside the house, so when I am ready to go, it is just easier if I can slip my shoes on instead of having to buckle or tie them.

Even when it is cooler, I have four pairs of shoes that are slip ons.....even a pair of Nikes. I am pretty much all about comfort, too, and if I spend more than $50 for a pair of shoes, I wear them until they are embarrassing looking.

Mine say that I'm cheap and that my feet are so huge that my selection is limited and I have to take what I can get.

They also say that I make a very half-hearted stab at keeping up with NYC shoe fashion, but that I'm really bad at it. Last year it was flip-flops on everyone, and since I can't stand to have anything between my toes I just skipped that trend; this year it's black strappy sort-of-high-heeled sandals, and I did manage to find a pair of those that I can wear. In winter it's black leather dress boots with a zipper up the inside ankle, and I have pair of those, too.

Speaking of what your shoes say, what's the deal with Tevas? I've heard people say that they despise Tevas, but I've never heard why. Are they supposed to be yuppie sandals? Weekend warrior? What's the statement there? I'm highly attached to my Tevas just because of their comfort and durability, but I've never understood why they earned a bad reputation or what that reputation is.

I have alot of shoes. For the past months its been flippies though. I love long black boots but my calf is too fat for the zippee kind so I usually have to search for a chubby calf boot every winter. I bought a pair of Sorels last winter I love them. Today I wore my Tevas. They are so comfy. Two days I threw away my fav. pair of old running shoes (adidas) I stepped in some dog poo and I just couldn't stomach cleaning them they were old and stinky but I loved them.

What do my shoes say? I'm obsessive about comfortable shoes- I have Birkenstocks of all colors, styles (open and closed toe) and patterns- and I just bought two new pairs of shoes- 9 West Outlet at the beach- one brown, one black that are extremely comfortable in a semi-stylish sort of way. When I'm at work, I'm in my shoes for like 14 hours at a time, plus travel and the swelling on airplanes. I'm all about comfort and practicality. I own ONE pair of strappy sandals and I'm seriously considering giving them to Goodwill and replacing them with the patent leather black Birkenstocks.

I wear retired Sauconys or running clogs. At work, I wear comfortable shoes and have adapted the Nordic tradition of wearing clogs....even with suits!

Kristen, I love those black boots too. I can't wear the zippered ones either.

I love clogs too, who makes good dress clogs? My birks aren't exactly fashion-forward. My main reason for wearing them? Too lazy to bend over and tie a shoe.

So was that a compliment or an insult Fluffhead? Maybe it's kind of like shabby chic which is pretty trendy these days.

That I'm obsessive about buying shoes. I have never wore at least a third of them (and I have close to a 100 pairs). I'm trying to limit myself to buying only what I would actually wear but they never seem to be as comfortable as they were in the store. I'd love to share some if anyone is a size 6.
