No Kidding! I took the kids (plus our neighbor) to Burger King for lunch yesterday as a fun surprise/treat. I only had a $20 and so I asked them to subtotal the order before paying for it so that I could make sure I had enough money for all of them before ordering for myself. The kid at the register told me that they can't subtotal orders and he'd estimate for me. (Thanks, I could have done that myself...I just wanted to know exactly how much with tax...) and he estimated 4 kids meals and 1 big kids meal at being under $10. So...I added it all up with him, checked the order and wasn't sure I would have enough...so I just ordered stuff for the 4 kids. The total was only $14....I said "are you sure? 4 kids meals and 1 big kids meal? (Andrew doesn't eat the french fries...just more chicken nuggets than the others)" He looked at the screen and said "yes!"

So...I ordered a salad and drink for myself and that pretty much took up the $20. Then when the food came, one of the kid's meals was missing....when I said "Oh, I"m missing a cheeseburger meal" the manager came up to me and said "NO...you only ordered 4 meals. If you want another one I'll have to ring it up for you" I informed her I'd already spent my money on my salad and I heard her muttering about how I didn't have the money for all of the meals so how could I have possibly ordered 5 in the first place.

We'll have to search for a different Burger King to go to for next tieme!

I am feeling rantish right now. My friend/neighbor just took my DD to a day camp and called me on the way to say that she can't lie to me. I am thinking what did you lie about? She proceeded to tell me that she our other friend/neighbor had invited her family up to their lakehouse this weekend. And yesterday when she couldn't remember why her son had to miss a birthday party on Saturday, she just couldn't think of what to say to me. I am a little bit annoyed that she is making a big deal out of being invited to spend the weekend with our mutual friend. Sure she didn't want to hurt my feelings or make me feel left out. Of course I am jealous that her family will spend the weekend boating and hanging out while I am home alone with two girls in 95 degree weather (DH has to work). I am not feeling left out that I wasn't invited. The fact that she couldn't come right out and say anything ticks me off.

OMG...The physical therapy saga continues...Thomas took Andrew today at 3pm because my van is in the shop...and when he went to check in the same receptionist said "Nope, I don't have Andrew here in the schedule for an appointment" Thomas (my hero ) said "well, that's your problem, not mine, because we're here" :> and then the physical therapist walked by and the receptionist said "oh...yep, here he is right here..." and checked him in.

Thomas called me saying "omg, I can't believe this!"

        wow

I am a smallish troll, because this color:

          http://www.gap.com/asp/Product.asp?w...10&wpid=296097

is painful to me, even in small doses, and suddenly it is everywhere. Gah! Get away! Thou art offensive to mine eyes! Especially in pants. Especially in pants on a man. And if you have even one ounce of extra body fat, this should definitely not be the color in which your butt is clad! C'mon people, this is New York--we can't all dress well but we can at least avoid dressing loud. You're making my eyes go deaf.

This made me laugh out loud, which was sort of embarassing because there aren't too many people in the office yet so it's super-quiet right now! Anyway, I agree, that is a highly offensive color - leave Julie alone!!!

Mmm, chartreuse. When I was a young avid reader learning new words from context, I always envisioned chartreuse as being this sickly pinkish purplish brownish shade. I think that would be better than that shirt.

Phew! I own nothing in that color, though I am currently wearing a green shirt of a different shade.

I can be bitchy at times, so here goes:

It drives me insane when people try to distribute unsolicited childrearing advice by speaking in a "mock child" voice. For instance, they might see me at the park with my hatless child and say in a fake baby voice "gee mom, did you forget to put my hat on before we left the house". It's almost as if they think I will actually believe my kid is saying it, and will therefore not take offense.

I hate it when people give bullshit answers to questions they really don't know the answer to. Is it that difficult to say you just don't know?

I can't stand to see people throwing their cigarette butts out their windows or to see people driving around with their children unrestrained.

I think I'm becoming a hippie, because it drives me nuts when people don't recycle.

Ok, my little girl has green shorts that color, but she's little, so it's not nearly as offensive (Little=Less body surface area!) I agree, it's too much, and it does seem to be everywhere in stores!!!

Okay I was gone all last week so I missed this thread but just read the whole thing and about died. You guys are hillarious!

My rant from the last week is stupid cab drivers. I don't even live in Chicago and I knew where we were supposed to be going more than they did. That and of course the fact that my company makes us stay in a hotel that cab drivers have never heard of!

I had the same problem in Chicago last year. I had to call the hotel from the cab and get directions. Btw, the hotel was on Michigan Ave. NY cabbies may be horrible drivers but at least they know where they're going.
