I need a beer!

I have had three of the craziest days at work this week. I just need to expell a little bit of anger and, since my MS3H is on-call tonight I can't gripe to him. So, thanks for listening!

I've worked at this same, dead-end job for 3.5 years now. I'm an "administrative assitant" which if you ask me is just a glorified way of saying "office b*tch". Anyway, my boss is an absolute nut. The things he does best are procrastinating, over-complicating things, and driving me up the wall. :argue: I just love how he will know that a report needs to go out, but he puts it off (to go out and help trim the hedges, no less) until the client calls complaining, and then its MY job to stress out about getting it out as soon as I can! Argh!

I keep telling myself that once we know where Chris will be doing his residency I will be able to either find a new job in our area, or will be able to start anew in our new city. That will be another two years, though. For now, I need this job for the financial security and don't see the point in changing careers to only be there a short time.

I've had this rant for almost 3 years, though, and I'm still here....*sigh*

If this is more of a just blowing off steam about the annoying parts of a job you actually like, then hang in there.

If you really hate the job and would rather do something else, I think that saving yourself 2 more years of grief with this boss is worth it. Or if you are doing the same job you could at least do it for a different person at a different company. IMO, you do not need to reveal during a job interview that you might be moving in 2 years. Free yourself!

I agree with Nellie and Luanne. Life is way too short to spend 2 years (that's a long time!) in a job you hate!!!

Heh, I'm right there with you. Except they don't even let me have a nice euphemism like "administrative assistant", I'm a secretary plain and simple!

I know it's tedious and frustrating. I am having a VERY hard time not being rude to one of the four diva-ish university professors I work with. But it's just a job. I go home and live my life and count down the months until I can go on to something more interesting! The years will fly by, I promise! I've been at this job right at three years now, and have finally perfected the art of just not caring very much.

I can't lose the good money and benefits of this job, and if I move to another position in the same university I won't be able to hide the fact that I expect to move in less than a year. "What brought you from Portland?" is the first interview question I always run across. And they *know* that "medical school" means a four year stay.

So I stay, and let the annoying stuff go, and really throw myself into life outside of work! Try it!

Never ever stay in a job that you hate. I did that for 5 years and it was so psychically draining to me. It also turned me into an evil compaining cranky pants and I was no fun to be around, even when I was alone.

I've had many of these jobs, and it completely sucks to be in that situation. I whole-heartedly agree, two years is too long! I know its so easy for me to say, but I would definately consider looking elsewhere. :!
