  • fake it until we make it.

Alright guys, after the near-hysteric pitches of many of my recent posts, I've decided I'm gonna do something about it.

For those of you "newbies", I was the one who originally suggested the "Mood Makeovers:Gratitude and Inspiration" section to Kris. Alright, cut out all your snickering and put your goggling eyes back into your head. I'm trying here! (Kris, by the way, why do you put up with me??? I mean honestly woman.)

Anyway, here is what I'm gonna do and I hope you'll join me. We're gonna fake it until we make it. Write down three things that you are happy and grateful about each day that you log in. Especially make sure you include something about the thing that is causing you the most angst in your life.

We are going to bastions of good cheer and hope! Really! Show me some love now.

    I'll start.

    8/8/05

    1. DH is as solid as the day is long.
    2. I'm feeling really confident about myself these days as my running takes off.
    3. My kitchen is clean today!

        *sigh*...OK, OK.....if I must.....

        1. The leftover pizza I just ate tasted great

        2. I'm not at work today (and for me, being at home with a sick child is actually better), so for this I'm grateful.

        3. As painful as work can be at times, I work with really awesome people, and for that, I am grateful.

I'm sure that with time, my statements will become completely positive, right?!?! I'm in--I promise to do this each time I log in!!! Thanks, Kelly!!!

That just gave me my first good belly laugh of the day. Talk about really reaching for the postitive! Way to stay on topic. Here's mine:

          1. The swelling in Jacob's ear is going down and for that I'm thrilled b/c we're not insured until September.

          2. Our house is starting to come together - and I do love it!

          3. I met a group of fun mom's last week, and plan to meet more people this week!

            1. I am enjoying feeling little Jack kicking and squirming all the time (DH has even been able to feel him kick!).

            2. I am *loving* lab year, we have so much time for each other and for fun things. We start golf lessons tomorrow!

            3. Last year I spent a lot of time clearing out part of our yard and planting black-eyed susans all along our screened-in porch, and this summer they are flowering beautifully. I love looking out my kitchen window and seeing their happy blooms.

              Great idea!

              1) I had a wonderful weekend!

              2) It's my son's first day of second grade, he's a great kid, and I know he will "wow" his teacher. (He read nearly 100 books this summer, including some quite difficult ones).

              3) My DD is having a nap!

Oh, and I can't possibly do this every time I log on, or you'd see a novella of things to be greatful for every day. Let's see #145, I haven't been bitten by a mosquito yet today.

wow...that's heavy...I remember internship year, and it certainly felt that way. Hell, it still feels that way - but looking back through the tunnel (there's still no light, by the way), I do recall things that were pleasant way back during pgy-1.
                  - I had one, small, manageable child. We'd go do stuff like get coffee, go for hikes, go to the museum.
                  - We knew exactly where we would be for the next 4 years. There was no fog of confusion over the future.
                  - Even though it seemed to my wife like her world had caved in, the truth was that she had very little responsibility compared to the senior residents and attendings, slackers though they may have been.
Well, that's all the nice things I can say about internship.
Don't ask me to say nice things about now, until summer 2008.

                    1. My sister took me out to lunch today (the kids were totally nutty and I forgot my wallet there and have to drive 25 minutes back to get it but it was a free meal!).
                    2. I love, love, love my new car. I traded in my gigantic Suburban for a Cadillac SRX. It is kind of like a station wagon, but it seats 7 and it rides like a dream.
                    3. Last night we had one of the best nights ever--the kids played together well, we had breakfast for dinner, and then we loaded the baby in the bike trailer and went for a ride together. Our oldest went about 3 miles on her bike that she now rides very well without training wheels.
                    Awake is the new sleep!

                        1. The sound of the wind through the cornstalks in the garden
                        2. Hammocks, esp in partly shaded areas and with iced coffee
                        3. That my dear child is taking a nap (that is what has caused me the most angst today)

You are making this very hard since today is my birthday and it hasn't been the greatest, but here it goes.

                          1. I got a very nice card and gift from my in-laws yesterday.
                          2. I get to go visit my parents next Friday
                          3. I was having a craving so I made homemade chocolate chip cookies!

Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

                            1. It poured rain while I was out walking the youngest in the jog stroller, so I couldn't really tell how much I was sweating.

                            2. I got a good couple hours of sleep on the couch last night, in between attending the youngest crying every couple hours and the call pager going off as well.

                            3. I am thankful that DW has a job to go to where she can interact with adults.( This is my thorn- seems that I have been getting the "left-overs" of her all week. In bed at 7:30p, up after the alarm goes off, seemingly forever, then off to work....not much adult conversation, mostly two year old speak, as that is who is currently shadowing me everywhere.)

                              well today is August 21st

                              1. My Husband is home today (Sunday) he is working in the yard (he likes to do gardening). My clean 2 y/o is playing in the mud right along side of him. It's just nice to see him spend ANY time with the kids.

                              2. Ok confession: I haven't gotten out of my PJ's and it's been great. Hubby even brought food home for me

                              3. I found my way back to this site after 3 years....it maybe just what the doctor ordered 8)
