  • What are you looking forward to?

I need things to look forward to, to give me hope in this long dark tunnel. What things are you looking ofrward to, and can't wait to have happen?

    1. The final day of residency, Need I say more?

    2. Our Disney World trip this October.

    3. When my kids are old enough that either a. my son can watch my daughter while I go out, or b. my daughter is in school. I don't want to wish away their childhoods or anything, and I wouldn't trade this time for the world, but I do look forward to that time too.

    4. Date nights - for glimpses of the man that I married.
Heidi, PA-S1 - wife to an orthopaedic surgeon, mom to Ryan, 17, and Alexia, 11.

    Oooooh, I'll play!

    1. I might be taking a solo trip (first one in over 10 years) to Portland, OR in a few weeks to visit a dear friend that just moved there. I've never been there so I am so excited! (where's the airplan emoticons)

    2. on that note.... I may get to see the change of seasons!!!! My FAVORITE time of year and I am so looking forward to that.

    3. DH, as I have said over and over these last few posts is done with rotations for 8 weeks and will be studying for boards, getting ready for interviews, etc...but life will have routine again with dh/daddy in it! :---

What am I looking forward to:

(I am deliberately not including medical stuff because as we all know, there's always something 'next'.)

      1) My room-mate from college (which really does no justice to our relationship- it's been 20 years since the Freshman Class at Western Maryland College showed up and this crazy Jewish girl was my next door neighbor) is getting married to a fab guy on November 5. It's just her sister and I as attendents. Should be a great time.

      2) Vacation: My bestest friend from 4th grade (the infamous "Leslie who got married in Italy") and I have decided that we need to something fun and interesting for her 40th. (March '06) Something that involves a passport.

      3) Athletic Supporters: My pal Margaret Anne is running her first marathon in Maine this fall and Dammit, I will be there!

      Jenn

PS- medical wise- there is seriously nothing to look forward to because all the end of fellowship means is the beginning of Boards pressure. Yay!

        1. Moving to California

        2. Having the luxury to work when I feel like it someday, and not full time because of $$ obligations.

        3. Having a second baby in the next few years.

        4. Our family trip to Boca Raton next month (provided there isn't another hurricane)

What I'm looking forward (as with Jenn, am purposely excluding medical stuff b/c there seem to be too many obstacles to overcome... ):

          1. Our trip to Washington, DC in October. DH is presenting at the American Academy of Pediatrics conference, I'm just tagging along - all I have to pay for is my plane ticket! And we're staying at the Mayflower Hotel!!

          2. The fall. It is my absolute favorite time of year.

          3. A safe and healthy arrival for our baby boy in December.
          ~Jane

          -Wife of urology attending.
-SAHM to three great kiddos (2 boys, 1 girl!)

            1. My trip to our old stomping ground in CA in early October. A nine day trip, work is paying for it because I'll be working for most of it but there will be times to see friends.

            2. Our first child.

            3. Years 4-6 of residency!

Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

In our backyard, a few of the leaves are starting to turn so hopefully there will be good color to see in a few weeks!

This is a good one. I am not feeling so great about the next few weeks.

                1. We are now less than 2 years from the end of residency and less than 2 years post-boards.

                2. Kindergarten starts in 2 1/2 weeks and I'm looking forward to settling into a school schedule.

                3. I love the seasons changing and I'm noticing the afternoon light changing and the evenings cooling off.

                4. Almost time to plant a fall garden.

                5. After a few rocky years, my brother is doing well and seems to have more peace in his life.

                6. I got my chicken coop yesterday!

1.) I have a Mom's weekend planned with 5 other women in SUN VALLEY for two nights and three days. It's the first trip I will have taken by myself since I became a parent almost three years ago. It will be bitter sweet but REALLY fun.

2.) Weaning DS. I was sad for about 24 hours with DD and so if I muster 12 hours of mourning the end of nursing with DS, I will consider it a victory. I'm ready for a bit more freedom since both my kids HATED the bottle despite multiple attempts that bordered on torture in my book. AARRGH.

3.) DH interviewing for a REAL JOB. He has one in about 7 days -- the first one. Wow.

4.) Autum -- I love September in the Northwest

5.) Birthdays -- my kids turn one and three respectively in October

What he said. I also look forward to never having to attend another social function by myself and ability to take vactions at a whim and not plan them a year in advance.

                          I'm looking forward to:

                          1) My last fall in New England. I'm going to enjoy to the fullest the leaves, the crisp air, the apple/pumpkin picking, etc, etc.

                          2) The END of residency - ten months to go!!!

                          3) Finishing the Harry Potter series. I'm now an addict, it's official!

                          4) Fitting back into my clothes once this infernal "babyweight" comes off in about six more months (20 lbs to go...).

                          5) Sledding with the kids this winter.

                            3. The END of football season so that I can have my husband back.

                            4. The first holiday season with our son. I can't wait to start all of our own family traditions!
