  • All that is good in the world...

Let's make a list...It's so easy to get caught up in politics and all of the negativity that goes with it.....

What's good in the world right now?

Number one on my list is the international response to all of the disasters that have happened recently..Tsunami, hurricanes and recent earthquake in Pakistan/India/Afghanistan. There is still a lot of good in the world.

People don't always suck, do they?

Things that are good in the world: we had my friend's bridal shower today and I think she was amazed that people cared. She got some beautiful (handmade- getting back to the registry issue a few months ago) gifts and one woman found an antique handkerchief with their initials embroidered on it. It was great fun.

    2) Everyone in my neighborhhod that I've told about Petey's quarantine has been genuinely concerned.

      1) I spent the late afternoon sitting on my sidewalk with 2 new neighbors and a passle of kids. This never would have happened in my old neighborhood.

      2) Our dog is really fitting into the family nicely. He's a great pup, and my kids are learning a lot.

Thanks for making me take stock. I've been in a funk for a few weeks.

        1. We are seriously having a fantastic fall so far this year! We've had a good run of 70ish weather and my kids spend just about every afternoon playing outside with neighbor kids while I chat with their moms and dads.

        2. I know so many strong, inspiring women and it just gives me so much hope for how this next generation is going to turn out. Seems like we're in for a group of people that were raised to be tolerant of others, care about the environment and animals, and be conscious of social issues like reducing poverty and improving the education system. I know I should include men in this as well, but honestly aside from my husband, it's the women I spend time chatting with on a daily basis and I'm touched by how much everybody seems to care about issues beyond their nuclear family.

        3. I'm enjoying my kids so darn much these days (well, not yesterday, but in general...). I'm sitting here typing and my bald baby keeps bringing me detangler to spray on his hair, my 4 year old aspires to be a superhero princess, and my kindergartner is making new friends in kindergarten while her Spanish vocabulary is increasing exponentially.

        4. My dh, while he has always been fantastic, has morphed into this patient, loving man whom my kids adore. Gone is the guy who flips out over a spilled milk--he might reappear again some day, but until then...
